Welcome to 5th and 6th Grade!

February 11, 2020

Hi Parents,

I wanted to touch base with you about Valentine's Day this Friday. Students are going to bake cupcakes on Thursday in class with Mrs. Hirner and will get to decorate them at their party. If your child wants to bring valentines, that is just fine. It's also fine if they don't want to do so. At this age, it can go either way. :) If they do bring valentines or goodies etc. please make sure they bring one for each child in the class. We have 11 students

January 2020

We are happy to be back from Christmas break. Students have settled nicely into our routine again.

The class began a new chapter in history about the Roaring Twenties. How fun to study this decade in history that occured 100 years ago. Students are working on math and will be ready for a test next week. They will be taking an informal reading test next week as well. They read one of Rudyard Kipling's stories this week in class. They got to listen to Boris Karloff read the tale.

Students are studing biomes in science class. They are preparing for an upcoming English test. Spelling is going well. The class has been working on a variety of vocabulary words.

Thank you to all who helped sell discount cards over the break. The students have raised $1310 so far. Be sure to turn in your money and sales on Monday. Winners of this week's party is the 3rd/4th grade class. At the end of January, we will see which two students from the school are the top two spellers. First place gets a $50 gift card and second place gets a $25 gift card!
