GRADES 3 & 4

March 27, 2017

Dear Parents and Students,

“Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an Everlasting ROCK.” Isaiah 26:4

During this season of Lent, we have opportunity to focus on all Jesus has done for us to forgive our sins and take us to heaven. Extra worship opportunities take place every Wednesday at 6:30, with a meal at 5:30 in the gym. Please come and join us. Also, remember to use the “My Devotions” book that was given to you so your family can use it to grow together in faith.

This week's spelling list is attached. The third graders will learn these words in cursive: untie, unclear, unfair, reheat. Fourth graders will learn the first 10 in cursive and will learn all the challenge words this week.

Share time is for the 4th graders this week on Friday.

Both grades will have an English test on Wednesday. Review sheets will come home on Tuesday.

We are asking everyone to make an extra effort in the next couple weeks to collect Box Tops for Education and soup labels and bring them to school. The ladies who help with this project will be cutting and preparing the labels during the month of April. THANKS for your help!! Every little bit helps our school!

This is our week to get incubators and eggs to hatch. Eggs should arrive on Thursday and be ready to hatch by Monday or Tuesday. We will keep the chicks in the classroom until Friday afternoon. At that time, the chicks will have a new home at the Bass farm. Thank you!!

The final written book report for the third trimester is due on May 1. Each student will give an oral presentation of that book report, also. Students will need to dress as one of the characters in the book and talk about the book from the perspective of that character. Oral reports will be given the week of May 8.

Our Stanford Testing will be May 8-12. This is for all in grades 3-8. Please make sure your child is rested and attends school that week.

This year as part of our history lessons, we are studying about Missouri. As a culmination, we will take a field trip to Truman Library in Independence and Missouri Town in Lee's Summit on Thursday, May 18. We will need to leave school about 7:45 am that day, and it will probably be around 3:30 pm when we get back. We will need drivers who will also serve as chaperones/supervisors for a group of students on the tours we take. If you would like to drive for us on this field trip, please check your calendar and let me know as soon as you can. Student tickets for Truman Library will be paid by a grant. Adult tickets are $8. More information will follow closer to the day.
